Do you wanna live forever?

Call me a fool I don't care. Too late for that...

When I was a little boy I saw Conan the Barbarian. Burned in my brain was one scene especially. Conan is dead and his partner, a warrior herself, along with their friends, fight all night to resurrect him. As he awakens in the sunrise she tells him... "All the Gods they cannot sever us-- if I were dead and you still fighting for life, I would come back from the darkness... back from the pit of Hell to fight at your side." If that isn't the most "romantic" thing I have ever heard, well then tell me what is. I doubt you can come up with anything to match it.

So. I guess I was spoiled by such a concept, maybe "partners" should be less intense.

"Do you wanna live forever?"

Just a thought.

The World's Screen Saver: Blogger Play

If you already have a blog with Blogger (you really should it's free and oh so trendy) then you might already know about this, but for those of you who don't...

Blogger hosts millions of blogs. Photos are uploaded to these blogs from every part of the globe every split second. Blogger Play shows you these photos as they come in. They scroll by in a slide show and you can adjust the speed. Click on a picture before it goes by and be taken to the site where the photo was just posted. The range of photos is absolutely as wide as it gets. Blogger Play is the whole World's Personal Screen Saver. And the content you end up seeing is ultra fresh. Love it.
Check out Blogger Play.

My iGoogle front page

Here is a screen shot of my iGoogle page which I use as my homepage. Similar to a MyYahoo page, but I like it better.

Some interesting sites to check out

Triond is simply a site where you can publish just about any sort of content and possibly earn income by the click. It takes 10 clicks to earn a penny so you'd better drive some traffic to your pictures of your cat cuddling with a puppy, your haiku's about hip hop and your "Top ten things to do in Poughkeepsie" lists. It is free. And hey, click on some of my photos while your there! (There just pictures of my dogs swimming in Mississippi, but I like 'em!)

Famous for posting a video of her 300 page iPhone bill which she received in a box, Justine Ezarik is a lifecaster who lives in Pittsburgh (she gets extra props for that). In addition to being on the vanguard of this new phenomenon--she once published a video in which she said "I am the internet"-- I found her site to be enlightening--an in-track to what is hot in Web 2.0. Click here to go directly to her live webcast or check out her official blog at tastyblogsnack.com

Wanna discover some new music or share music with friends and web buddies? Try finetune. Another free site and they recently added a facebook association and the ability to add a player to your blog or website.

Last but absolutely not least... In case your living in your own personal daytime drama and you just woke up from a coma, get Gmail. Gmail is the best email out there with nearly endless and always expanding free services, and it helps that it is google's webmail offering and is highly compatible with Firefox. If you don't know what Firefox is then find out! It's free. And once you have Firefox I highly recommend an add-on called StumbleUpon. Originally it was just for randomly "stumbling" on sites related to your preselected interest preferences. It has been expanded to include social networking capabilities as well. GREAT way to find sites of high personal interest which you literally would never find if it weren't for this must have utility. Happy stumbling.

That's all for now. I just wanted to share some of the things I've found out there. They don't just jump in your lap, and the web can get pretty stagnant really fast without some sites like these to open new doors--and windows--into places that are fresh new and most of all readily useful to you.

Blackwater: A-Team or Dirty Dozen?

On a much HEAVIER note:
I think most of you have heard the name Blackwater by now, but what do you know about it? Well, I did a whole lot of reading this morning, starting around 6am. I neglected to save most of the links, but here is one I culled as a Wikipedia source note: Blackwater as Modern Praetorian Guard?

This really is scary stuff. I know that people are up to their necks in conspiracy theories and a lot of people quit listening as soon as you begin to say anything untoward against... ahem... their chosen circles.

Well, folks do yourself a favor and learn a little about the history of fascism. Very few people really know what it is, they just think of Nazis and dictators. Actually, the roots of fascism are commonly found in strong religious belief (sorry, but the original fascists thought they were good Christians) combined with a burgeoning sense of nationalism. Add a teaspoon of paranoia, a whole lot of reinforcement of a national feeling of "righteousness", and then fry it up quickly over the burning hot flame of a national crisis. Really the only element we are missing is the crisis.

Did anyone see where Blackwater was during Katrina? They were doing riot and looting patrol down in New Orleans. Scared the Hell out of a lot of folks in their black soldier outfits dropping in on ropes out of privately owned military helicopters. This is for real stuff people. Look it up. Never has America had it's head more in the sand then right now.

Seriously, Google this stuff. Read a few articles. You'll quickly start to see that there is nothing conspiratorial about any of this, it is common knowledge and much of it was aired on national broadcasts. Problem is that Americans have an aversion, a sort of allergy almost, to anything that sounds like a conspiracy, or anything that makes it sound like America (or even ANY American citizen) might be the bad guy. So we bury or quickly forget the stories that make us cringe. "It could never happen here, this is America!" we tell ourselves. Hey, is it just me, my friends, or doesn't everybody feel that things are just not right ever since 9/11? I say that's more than a feeling. Our brains sometimes put together the pieces while our waking minds are busy telling us what we want to hear. Everybody wants to be happy after all, but the light and color has certainly drained out of things since then... huh, maybe that's why so many people are seeing things in black and white.

I'll make this clear folks. The bad guys come in all flavors. Even red, white and blue. Well, at least they wrap themselves in Our flag, even if they don't belong in it. Unless you look deeper, you're just swallowing what they feed you. Mmmm yummy. Tastes like sweet American nationalism. (oh you might want to look up nationalism too. Hope that's not asking too much, but if I write it all out to you then how will you know if it's true anyway?)

Did Einstein ever kiss Olivia Newton-John?

Found something kinda funny. You see Max Born was a famous German physicist who was life long pals with Albert Einstein. He was also Olivia Newton-John's grandfather on her mother's side. Who knew? Check out this little article:

http://www.sdreader.com/php/ma_show.php?id=510

By the way... NO this is not an Olivia Newton-John fan page, it's just that I fell in love with Olivia when I was about 8 years old, and for some reason the crush came back today. Too bad she's old enough to be my mother... sigh... Some strange "twist of fate" kept us apart. Maybe by magic we will meet in another life. Until then I will be hopelessly devoted to you and your dolphins Olivia. Viva Koala Blue! Yes, yes I have been mellow, and I honestly love you...

Olivia Newton-John 17 years old

Olivia Newton-John is a Goddess. Here she is at just 17 singing Christmas Down Under. Xanadu was not a fantasy fiction movie, it was a documentary--Olivia is a muse from the heavens. Now you know.

The Start

I've decided that THIS blog is going to be about whatever I am interested in RIGHT now. I'm not going to curtail it in any sort of way. I am sure some pretty crazy stuff will end up here as well as a lot of fun and also some informative links to all kinds of interests. I'm all over the map like that. Maybe you'll stumble on me someday and it will be helpful. Not going to worry about it. Enjoy peoples of the world!
